Despite Advice, Many Fail to Breastfeed

Read this New York Times article to learn more about the health benefits of breastfeeding.  The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breast-feeding exclusively for the first six months of life, and continued nursing for a year, but a national survey has found that less than 75 percent of women breastfeed at all, and by one year only about a fifth are still nursing their babies.

The Office of Work/Life's Breastfeeding Support Program provides access to lactation rooms, equipped with hospital grade breast pumps.  We also offer workshops on breastfeeding led by lactation consultants each semester.
