The Office of Work/Life invites you to our Fall Workshop series.  Please click on the corresponding links to register for these free sessions.   While we recommend that you register, we welcome walk-ins when space permits.  For lunch-time sessions, please feel free to bring a brown-bag lunch.

Introduction to Medicare, Medicaid, and Medigap

This seminar explains the differences between Medicare, Medicaid, and Medigap and discusses exactly what each one provides. Topics include basic terms, documentation, eligibility criteria, enrollment procedures, deductibles, coinsurance and copayments, private contracts, administrative appeals, and more.

The Annual Columbia University Child Care Fair

Stop by the Child Care Fair to gather information and talk to representatives from child care centers, family day care settings, nursery schools, and pre-K programs near Columbia University Morningside, Manhattanville and CUMC campuses.    Please invite your colleagues, friends and neighbors to join us!

Breastfeeding Matters

“Breastfeeding Matters” is an educational workshop for expectant and new mothers who want to breastfeed their babies when they return to work or school.  Participants will learn breastfeeding basics, common difficulties and how to manage them, and return-to-work/school strategies and resources.  Feel free to bring your spouse or partner, and your infant if you have already given birth. Beverages and light snacks will be provided.

Preparing for the Kindergarten Process: Tools for Thinking it Through

For parents with children who will be starting Kindergarten in 2011
Join us for a small group, informal Q & A session that will offer suggestions on how to approach the process of finding the right public, parochial or independent school for your child.  Materials will be available with information on the admissions process and dates for the 2011-2012 school year.  You are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch. We encourage parents to also schedule appointments to meet individually with School Search Service counselors to develop their own list of schools.
