New Fort Washington Greenmarket

CUMC and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital have worked with Greenmarket to bring a new farmers market to campus. This collaboration was made possible by the CHALK (Choosing Healthy & Active Lifestyles for Kids) Program.

The Fort Washington Greenmarket will be located on Fort Washington Avenue between 168th and 169th streets; it will be open every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting July 6 and will stay open through November.

The market will be managed and maintained by Greenmarket, which operates farmers markets throughout New York City. Greenmarket works with more than 200 local farmers, fishermen and bakers to sell what they grow, catch and bake themselves. Greenmarket is a program of GrowNYC (formerly Council on the Environment of NYC), a privately funded citizens' organization in the Mayor's Office.

In addition to its healthy, fresh food offerings, the farmers market will host cooking demonstrations, nutritional counseling, and health promotion and education events to support healthy lifestyle choices.
