Housing & Relocation

Columbia University recognizes that finding high-quality and affordable housing in New York City is a challenge. That is why we have developed comprehensive support programs to assist with housing, and other aspects of relocation.  Browse this section to learn more about the Faculty Recruitment and Relocation Service, the Housing Information and Referral Service, and the Affinity Lending Program.

The Office of Work/Life is prepared to assist faculty, staff, and graduate students relocating to Columbia University from other parts of the United States, as well as from abroad, in matters of finding housing, child care, schooling, and more.

The Global Support website provides information, guidance, and resources to help facilitate international activities,  including travel and program administration. This resource includes guidance for International Travel that addresses preparations prior to departure, issues to consider while traveling and living abroad, and things to remember when returning to the United States.

Travel Assistance can help with emergencies when you travel more than 100 miles from home or internationally for trips of up to 180 days.  It can also help with non-emergencies, such trip planning. As a participant in Columbia's Group insurance coverage from The Standard Life Insurance Company of New York, you and your family members are automatically covered.
