Everyone has family stories worth preserving. Oral history can strengthen family bonds and create a sense of belonging, providing future generations with a deeper understanding of their heritage.
In this interactive two-session workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of oral history and how to record meaningful life-story interviews with relatives. We’ll cover preparing strong interview questions, simple recording techniques, and how to navigate challenges like sensitive topics, family secrets, or interviewing someone with memory loss. We’ll also discuss options for transcribing interviews.
No experience or special equipment required; participants receive a detailed syllabus and resources before the first session.
