School and Child Care Search Service

The School and Child Care Search Service provides expertise and guidance as you explore your early education and child care or K-12 schooling options.  

Are you an expectant parent or do you have a child under the age of 5 years?  

We help guide you to the early education or child care setting that best meets the needs of your child and your family by providing information on options including:

  • Center-based care, including Affiliated Early Learning Centers
  • Group family day care
  • NYC Department of Education tuition-free pre-Kindergarten programs (for 3 and 4 year-olds only)
  • In-home care

Do you have a school-age child, 5 years or older?  

We collaborate with you to develop an understanding of the schooling environment(s) that would be a good fit for your child and we support you as you explore your choices by providing information on the range of K-12 schooling options available to families living in NYC, including:

  • Independent
  • Public
  • Charter
  • Faith-based
  • Special education
  • Boarding
