Postponing difficult conversations with aging parents and other loved ones about the future only increases the difficulty of decision-making at a later date. This seminar discusses—and provides role-playing practice in—effectively communicating about long-term planning around financial, legal, health care, and social issues. Following this seminar, participants will be better able to: • Choose the best time to speak with their older loved ones • Know when to involve other family members • Decide what to discuss • Utilize simple but powerful communication tools to make the conversation easier Presenter: Consultant from Humana/HRI (Columbia University's Employee Assistance Program)
