October 3, 2019
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
America/New_York
516 W. 112 St., New York, NY 10027
As the leaves begin to turn, we will explore one of New York's most beloved places -- Central Park. Central Park is almost entirely an artificial environment, created by Frederick Law Olmested and Calvert Vaux, among others. We will walk through a portion of the park and examine how Olmsted & Vaux created this masterpiece, what it meant in the 19th century, and how the spectacularly restored park works today. Tour led by Columbia Professor of Historic Preservation Andrew Dolkart. Registration capped at 25. Rain date: Thursday, October 24, 2019
