CUFO Fight Against Hunger: Move-A-Thon

Join the Move-A-Thon, hosted on MoveSpring, to move with a purpose! CUFO is a proud participant in this year’s FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER in partnership with Columbia Community Service (CCS). Get ready to move with your coworkers in a 19 day move-a-thon to raise awareness, donate a sum of your choice to Fight Against Hunger, and win bragging rights for your team! Let your steps help you reflect on the cause and encourage you to give back. CUFO has a lofty goal of reaching 3,000,000 steps. Let's get moving!

Program Details

The challenge starts Monday, June 14 – Friday, July 2 (Last day to register is Friday, June 11th)! See additional details below.

  • Each team will be competing for the highest average step count by the end of the challenge.  Additionally, CUFO as a whole will be aiming for 3,000,000 by the challenge end!

You can create your MoveSpring account on a computer or by downloading the MoveSpring app to your mobile phone. When prompted, use the organization code CUWELL.

Please note, this is a team challenge.  When registering you will be able to join a team based on your role within CUFO – CPM & Planning, Manhattanville Development Group, Manhattanville Operations, Campus Services, Public Safety, Columbia Residential, Morningside Operations, Finance & Admin. Winning team takes home bragging rights!

When you sign up for MoveSpring, you connect a wearable device, smartphone, or selected manual entry to track your steps. Here is how to make sure your steps and all other activities count:

  • Remember to sync your data from your device to the app to update your total steps each day. Learn more about syncing here as it varies by the type of device you have.
  • Count other physical activity (e.g.: yoga or biking) towards your step goal by converting the number of active minutes to steps and manually adding them on the MoveSpring app.

Stay in touch with your colleagues throughout the challenge by using the chat function on the MoveSpring app. Here, you can share a stepping selfie, motivational thought, and more. You can also “like” and comment on posts in the app!
