Walk to Wellness: 20 Million Steps Challenge

Step up with your colleagues this summer with the Walk to Wellness: 20 Million Steps Challenge!  All faculty and staff on campus and those working remotely are joining together to achieve one common goal- to clock 20 million steps as one Columbia team. Let’s get stepping, Columbia!  

Monday, July 19 – Friday August 6

*Register by Thursday, July 15.

Participants will aim for 7,000 steps daily to Columbia University realize the collective goal of 20 million steps by the end of the challenge. 

 

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories-

  • CHALLENGE MVP: The participant with the highest total step count by the challenge end. 
  • Top Steppers: The 25 participants finishing with the highest step count will be entered into a raffle to win prizes (three total raffle winners).
  • Most Improved Steppers: Prizes will also be awarded to the three most improved steppers. 
  • STEP CONTRIBUTOR RAFFLE: All participants who have contributed steps will be entered in a raffle (two total raffle winners)

 

You can create your MoveSpring account on a computer or by downloading the MoveSpring app to your mobile phone. When prompted, use the organization code CUWELL

When you sign up for MoveSpring, you connect a wearable device, smartphone, or selected manual entry to track your steps. Here is how to make sure your steps and all other activities count:

  • Remember to sync your data from your device to the app to update your total steps each day. Learn more about syncing here as it varies by the type of device you have.
  • Count other physical activity (e.g.: yoga or biking) towards your step goal by converting the number of active minutes to steps and manually adding them on the MoveSpring app.
