Carolyn Sachs Singer
Carolyn fosters the long-term vision of the Columbia University School and Child Care Search Service in supporting faculty and staff as they seek education and care for their children. Carolyn provides resources and information to expectant parents as well as to families with young children as they make decisions related to parenting and child care choices. Prior to her arrival at Columbia, Carolyn served Managing Director of Children’s and Family Programs at the Riverdale YM-YWHA and then served as the Senior Director for Family Life at the JCC in Manhattan. Carolyn is a member of a number of professional organizations including The National Association for the Education of Young Children, the National Coalition of Campus Child Care Centers and the New York based Citizen’s Committee for Children.
Carolyn earned her B.A. in Jewish Studies from the University of Cincinnati, MS in Social Work from Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and MSed in Leadership in Early Childhood Education from Fordham University. A native New Yorker, Carolyn has two adult children. Carolyn often spends her weekends cycling around the tri-state area. She and her husband live on the Upper West Side.
